Co-hosting the fill in fun

August 9, 2012

Another week almost over, another week closer to the start of school. Summer always flies by in the blink of an eye. Why is that? This week the boy and I went to buy his books, and get his locker. He needs a locker in school now, I can’t wrap my mind around the fact that he’s in middle school. How did that happen? We still have a few more things to take care off… like buying uniforms, new shoes and of course, school supplies. My mom got each of them some cool new back bags so that’s one more thing scratched off the list. Today, I’m taking the boy for his yearly check-up and physical. Can’t wait to find out how tall he is… he went from fitting just under my chin to hitting the middle of my nose in no time flat. Everyone keeps telling me he’s gotten so tall. I guess, I don’t realize it so much because I see him daily. But others definitely notice the change. And then, later I’ll be meeting with the lovely Nicolette of Working on a Project. I can’t wait to get my hands on her beautiful new baby girl. Both Middle and Little One are excited to go and spend time with her daughter Miss. M and see the baby.

But now, on to the important matters at hand. Hilary made me co-host for this weeks Follow Friday Four Fill in Fun. How exciting is that? I came up with the last two statements.

Each week, Hilary plans on listing four statements with a blank for us to fill in on our own blogs. If you want to join the fun and come up with four fill in’s of your own, please email them to her at If she uses them, she will add you as co-host to the hop!

She would LOVE it if you could please help her spread the word about this hop…. So, please tweet, FaceBook share, and add the linky to your post…

This week’s statements:

1) When I was little my mom  _____

2)___ is my favorite condiment

3)I don’t like to celebrate____ because____

4)My ____takes up more space  _____ and I can never__________

My answers:

1) When I was little my mom used to make me toast with butter and cinnamon sugar and fennel tea when I wasn’t feeling good.

2) Ketchup is my favorite condiment.

3) I don’t like to celebrate Valentine’s Day because we shouldn’t need one day a year to show someone we love them. It about the little every day things…

4) My dog, Macy takes up more space on the bed and I can never move at night.

Kids sure grow fast and my 12 yr old is now taller than me which makes me feel so short 🙁 But it’s the generation (I keep telling myself lol they’re just freakishly tall!) Wow I can’t believe your summer is over already and school is starting back. That time flew by!!
Enjoy that pool of yours for as long as you can, although in Florida, do you even get a winter??
Have a wonderful weekend Susi!!! xo

We don’t get winter per se but it does cool down and for us by the end of September the pool is too cold. Our blood is too thin to take anything less than 85 degrees of water temp!!! 🙂

I hear you on the last minute shopping. It won’t be quite the last day before school for us but close enough! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.

I soooooo agree with your #3

    • Susi August 10, 2012 at 9:39 am

I knew you would as you had mentioned something along those lines before. We really never make a big deal out of the day.

Oh, I feel for you not being able to move when my little doggie gets up the bed during storms it is very uncomfortable.
    Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

    • Susi August 10, 2012 at 9:38 am

My doggie is not so little and she usually sleeps right between us but stretches out and pushes both of us to the edge of our bed. And we have a king size!!! 🙂

Seems like a lot of people are picking Valentine’s Day.

    • Susi August 10, 2012 at 9:37 am

It is a Hallmark holiday to a lot of peoples minds. It’s nice to think that most of us feel we don’t need that one day a year to show someone how special they are.

Summer holidays are almost over….my kids are going to middle-school, so I must say, I’m aging fast…..
    Have a nice weekend!

    • Susi August 10, 2012 at 9:36 am

We all sure are getting older. And sometimes it’s so in your face how fast time flies! Thanks for stopping by.

  • Megan Broutian August 10, 2012 at 12:55 pm

I completely agree with the Valentine’s day sentiment, though I *still* want a present 🙂

    • Susi August 11, 2012 at 12:06 am

We really don’t do presents. We actually make it more of a family then a romantic day.

My son is 12 and has grown about an inch and a half since the beginning of the year. I have a suspicion he’ll be taller than his brother who is 5’9″. When they start growing there’s no stopping them.

I see we agreed on Valentine’s day. I’m glad we don’t let our Molly get in our beds – she’s a 70 lb American bulldog mix, which could easily take up all the space! Have a great weekend!

    • Susi August 11, 2012 at 12:05 am

My son grew 3 inches since his last check up. Everyone’s been noticing how tall he’s gotten. If he continues this way he’ll be almost as tall as I am by next year!

congrats on your co-host duties! great questions.

my mom used to make me the cinnamon and sugar toast too. or sometimes, she’d put a bit of honey too. I still have it every now and then for comfort. I don’t dare give the kids a taste! haha

agreed about Valentines Day. but there should still be chocolate. then again, that should be everyday too 🙂

    • Susi August 11, 2012 at 12:04 am

Chocolates are definitely an every day treat!!! At least they should be…

  • Jennifer August 11, 2012 at 12:37 pm

Ooh, toast with butter and cinnamon sounds so good!
I remember when I moved on to high school and had a locker I felt like it was the coolest thing ever!!

    • Susi August 12, 2012 at 1:04 am

I thought getting a locker was pretty cool too. Because we didn’t have them in Germany.

  • Yvonne August 12, 2012 at 1:43 pm

I never had fennel tea, but I did have toast and butter when I was sick. I chose ketchup too.

    • Susi August 12, 2012 at 1:53 pm

Fennel tea is pretty interesting and definitely not everyone’s cup of tea!!! 🙂
