Behold the power of social media and Friday fill ins…

October 11, 2012

Blogging has changed my outlook on a lot of things and brought many more interesting and yes, time consuming “hobbies” into my life. One of those things is my love for all things social media… Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, and by far my favorite Instagram! I have been using Facebook for quite some time and was happy and comfortable with it. I never gave Twitter much thought but when I started blogging some of the advice I got from others was to set up a profile. I did but didn’t expect much from it. Fast forward a year and I have over 800 followers – Thanks guys!!! – and use it daily. I have conversations with people all over the country and the world. It’s awesome. You know what else is awesome? Getting on Twitter to let off a little steam because you felt a company was not on the up and up. And the company in question seeing it because you tagged them.

It didn’t exactly happen to me but to the hubby. We had some issues with our cable company today and had to pay a bill even though we get our cable through our homeowners association… long story. So, I paid the bill to be done with it. An hour later hubs gets on the Twitter and “complains”. Bill from the company tweets back, asks what the problem is, they go back and forth and voila, at the end of it… we got our money refunded and an apology. How freaking cool is that? Behold the power of social media. I LOVE it. Is it any wonder? ๐Ÿ™‚

Each week, Hilary plans on listing four statements with a blank for us to fill in on your own blogs. If you want to join the fun and come up with four fill inโ€™s of your own, please email them to her at If she uses them, she will add you as co-host to the hop! This weekโ€™s co-host is Janice from Janiceโ€™s Footsteps – she came up with the last two statements

She would LOVE it if you could please help her spread the word about this hopโ€ฆ. So, please tweet, FaceBook share, and add the linky to your postโ€ฆ

This weekโ€™s statements:

1. Given the choice of ___ or ___ for ___ Iโ€™d pick ___
2. If you told me ____ I would never have believed you
3. The last time I cooked_______it came out_______.
4. My favorite color is ___

My answers:

1. Given the choice of being inside or outside for my workouts I’d pick outside any day.

2. If you told me a year ago that I would be a blogger I would have never believed you.

3. The last time I cooked flounder it came out a little dry.

4. My favorite color is blue, any blue will do, but sky blue is by far my fave. (Interesting fact… we all have blue eyes in my family!)

Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend.
xo, Susi

Social media can be great… I am so glad that it helped you… I am not happy with the results from my Jet Blue issue and my tweets (thanks to your hubby for helping me). I am going to wait a few days, and then also use some more social media to share my story…

    • Susi October 12, 2012 at 7:03 am

I know, Hilary. Its not everyone and I hope it works out for you. Our issue was also different than yours… that may have had something to do with it!

So glad you blogging, Susi! Guess I’m not much of an outdoor person, especially since it’s extremely humid almost all the time where I live.

    • Susi October 12, 2012 at 9:47 am

It’s really humid here over the summer months. It’s finally letting up a bit and the last few days were beautiful in the mornings and evenings.

  • Wayne October 12, 2012 at 9:48 am

I have not found love for Twitter – perhaps I will find my niche with it.

    • Susi October 12, 2012 at 11:20 pm

Wayne, it took me a while. You just have to go for it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Judy October 12, 2012 at 10:08 am

Blogging is new to me as well. My daughter and SIL have been doing it much longer than I have howevr it is a great way for my working friends and some of my family to keep up with our travels and adventures since hubby and I are not always at home. I too do not know the colour of my hair. My Dad always asks which family member gave me the red hair.

    • Susi October 12, 2012 at 11:19 pm

Judy, blogging is great. I love the community. ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy your travels.

I left an angry post on Blue Shield’s Facebook page, after months of getting the run-around… One of their staff called ME at HOME to ask me how they can help me resolve it. Yup, social media ROCKS!

    • Susi October 12, 2012 at 11:18 pm

      It sure does, Megan. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell October 12, 2012 at 2:13 pm

Blue is my fave color too, but I like navy blue. ๐Ÿ™‚ I can totally see why an outside workout would be better! Inside is so boring!

    • Susi October 12, 2012 at 11:18 pm

It can get very boring inside. I just like being out and about breathing the fresh air and enjoying the sunshine. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Arlene October 12, 2012 at 9:09 pm

I wouldn’t mind exercising outdoors if everyday were as gorgeous as today was! Warm and breezy with low humidity – that’s my kind of weather! Have a great weekend blue eyes ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Susi October 12, 2012 at 11:16 pm

Arlene, really enjoying the low humidity. It should get better still… tonight was gorgeous. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Beckey October 15, 2012 at 12:04 pm

I understand about the blogging thing. I started mine kind of on a whim, and it has taken on a life of its own!

    • Susi October 15, 2012 at 1:45 pm

It does take on a whole new life, doesn’t it. It’s almost like this whole other world… and I love it!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
