No recap post from me. No time. Just a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who has stopped by this past year. I look forward to your company this new year and wish you all the best – lots of love, happiness and health!!!
It’s been a busy few days and not just because of the holidays. We were watching our neighbors’ pooch for a few days. He is such a good boy and the girls had a blast walking him. Why is it that they were fighting over who could walk him but they never volunteer to walk our dogs? Christmas involved cooking (hubby and my mom), going out with grandma and hubby’s aunt and cleaning lots of wrapping paper.
My favorite part of Christmas is Christmas Eve – always has been and I’d wager always will be. It’s the big night in Germany – Heiligabend – we usually never saw the tree before that night and the magic of seeing the tree for the first time combined with the excitement over getting presents – Bescherung – never got old.
We continue this tradition with our own kids and Christmas Eve is always reserved for time with my mom and presents that the “German” Santa dropped off early at her house. This year we also had a traditional Christmas meal of roasted goose, with potato dumplings, red cabbage, stuffing and gravy.
The kids barely eat anything because they are too excited to open presents. They know that as soon as dinner is done and the table is cleared; they’ll get to tear into the mountain of presents under the tree.
my mom Santa didn’t disappoint and there were a lot of squeals and happy faces. And for once I didn’t have to spend two hours building any of the toys!!! (The boy built his own.)
And after all the presents are opened, the wrapping paper and kitchen cleaned up, it’s time for everyone to relax and put up their feet. And try out the new toys!!!
And then, the tree is waiting for more presents from Santa… but not until all the kids are in bed and fast asleep. Well, at least the littlest one… The other two are my helper elves now!

It’s hard to imagine that I’ve been doing my Picture Perfect Weekly hop for 34 weeks now and we are at years end. This will be the last one for this year. I’m going to take next week off and then come back in the New Year. I’m going to start fresh again and start counting from week one. It’ll be the Picture Perfect Weekly 2013 edition… 52 weeks of picture perfect moments!!! I hope, you’ll join me!!!
Here are a few moments from my week. It’s been a bit busy around here. The boy had is first ever midterms last week and his schedule was all wacko so I had to do quite a few double runs to school and back. And of course I’m in full prep mode for Christmas. I still have a few things to get and all the presents still need wrapping! Anyone want to help? 🙂 I always tell myself that next year I’ll start shopping earlier and get things done quicker and then time just gets away from me.
Little one was my number one decorator yesterday. We had to make a second batch of Christmas cookies so we could leave some for Santa Christmas Eve!
I made a lot of candy cane cookies. For some reason I really like them this year!
This tree is in front of the Marriot hotel here in Boca. It’s absolutely beautiful and so big. See Little One in front of it?
I named this one Reflections. The lake was like glass one morning this past week and I loved the way the trees were a mirror imagine. I chose a black and white filter because it just seemed to fit with the barren trees.
Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!!!!
This week for your viewing pleasure I give you the one and only — Ashley — singing The 5 Days of Florida Christmas!
This was a school assignment. The children were supposed to take a holiday song and change the words to make it funny and different. After some consideration Ashley and I decided to go with the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas” and give it a Florida spin.

This week’s statements:
1. When I am in a ____ mood I ___
2. When I ___ I ___
3. If I could donate a ton of money to a charity it would be_____ because _______.
4. I like to visit ______________blog(s) because __________________
1. When I am in a bad mood, I tend to pout and get very quiet.
2. When I get home from dropping the kids off at school, I have to go around the house and make all the beds before I can do anything else.
3. If I could donate a ton of money to a charity it would be St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Humane Society because families that have to deal with their very sick children shouldn’t have to worry about paying the bills and such, and I love animals. Our pooches all came from the humane society. I would never, ever pay thousands of dollars for a pet when there are so many waiting for good homes.
4. I like to visit photography blog(s) because I learn so much just from reading and I feel it has helped my photography tremendously.
Linking up with Hilary at FeelingBeachie for Wordless Wednesday.
About the photographs: I love my Santa and Mrs. Claus salt and pepper shakers. They always have a special spot on the dining room table. Recently, I was practicing to get the bokeh effect (the blurred background/light circles from the Christmas tree) with my camera. I was pretty happy with the results as I’m still using the kit lens. And what better subjects this time of year than Santa and his lovely Mrs. Claus?
