January 27, 2013

I love to share photos and I love Instagram. I was one happy little blogger when Instagram became available on Android devices. I jumped, no leaped, on that particular social media bandwagon and have developed a love affair/addiction with it. That has not changed with the beginning of the new year. 2013 here I come!

Won’t you please join me once a week by sharing your favorite pictures from your phone and Instagram?

It’s easy – share just one or many of your favorite shots from the week with a small description and link up your post.

Please, paste the badge into your post or sidebar.

You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and of course, Instagram!

I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!

1-26 starbucks breakThis week we had our Starbucks stop on Thursday instead of our usual Tuesday. It was busy and we ended up sitting outside. The girls and I didn’t mind, it was a beautiful day. Have you had one of these Kind bars? They are so delicious and such a guilt-free snack!!!

1-26 bike rideOne morning, it was nice and cool out, little one wanted to go for a bike ride. So, we did. She put on her Ariel helmet, hopped on and took a ride around the neighborhood circle. I followed, as fast as I could with Gracie, our Yorkie. She likes to stop on every mailbox – which makes for slow going sometimes.

1-26 sick girlThen, the sickness hit and little one started complaining of a sore throat and green coop started coming out of her nose. It seems to have been short lived and she’s feeling much better. Of course, the boy has been complaining the past few days… You know how it goes, once it’s in the house everyone gets it.

1-26 sleepy girlNap time is a thing of the past for this four year old. But thanks to Sarah McLachlan and not feeling well she ended sleeping for an hour in the car when we went to pick up the kids from school one afternoon this past week! I realized after posting the picture that she’s drooling a little.

1-26 pasta dinnerA favorite Saturday night dinner – spaghetti, marinara, breaded chicken cutlets and mozzarella cheese – in front of the TV. I’ve been using the “healthy” Barilla pasta as much as I can get away with. I get some complaints but in the end everyone eats it.

1-26 makeup girlMiddle loves to play and experiment with make up. I get regular “make overs” and sometimes I return the favor. Thanks to a fabulous Smashbox kit my mom gave Middle for Christmas we have hours of fun. I love the creamy eyeliner that you put on with a special brush!

I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!

This week I’m sharing all the Instagram pics I took at the South Florida Fair yesterday. We look forward to it every year and can’t wait for January to get here. Ever since the boy was little we’ve gone every year and haven’t missed one in ages. It’s our thing.

This year we went with friends of ours. Their little girl is friends with our little one and they are the same age. The two of them had a blast and wanted to go on ALL the kiddie rides! Middle had her best friend with her and the boy his. The girls went off with our friend’s hubby to ride the big kid rides and the boys went off on their own for the first time ever. Hubby was in constant phone contact with the boy, so that I didn’t worry too much. (He’s growing up too fast for my liking!)

It was so much fun, from the BBQ brisket hubby had to have, the funnel cake for us girls, to the live stock (cute little calves, anyone?) and of course the midway! We ended up being there for 7 1/2 hours and didn’t get home until midnight after all the drop-offs were done. Today, we all slept late, stayed home for the most part and reveled in the dreary weather perfect for hot tea and relaxation.

Today, I cried…

January 17, 2013

Macy

 ~*~

Today,

I cried.

Today,

I cleaned — a lot. I usually clean when I’m upset.

Today,

I am very upset and sad. So, I cleaned — a lot.

Today,

we had to say goodbye to our sweet Macy. She was a part of this family for nearly 13 years.

I guess, you could say, she was our first baby. We had her since before our boy was born.

Today,

I remembered the day he dropped the little fur ball that she was into my lab, as a surprise.

Today,

I thought of our first few years with her. They were very tumultuous. She would run away the minute you opened the front door.

She loved to destroy the boy’s toys and nibble at his pudgy baby feet when he was in his Johnny Jumper.

She dug up most of the back yard and was just a crazy, excitable thing.

By the time the girls came along she mellowed out and was always very protective of them.

Today,

it was strange to only walk one dog.

Today,

I’m dreading  going to bed and missing the space she’s left behind — empty.

Today,

I thought, I was prepared for it. Knowing it was coming.

Today,

I was wrong.

Today,

I’m just heartbroken and so are the kids.

Middle keeps crying and talking about her. Little One doesn’t fully understand what’s going on.

She asked us if we could visit Macy and hubs tried to explain to her that she’s not here anymore.

Today,

I know, in my mind, that this is for the best. That she’s in a better place.

But my heart doesn’t want to hear it just yet.

Today,

I imagine her playing with my parents’ dog Jerry Lee.

I imagine, he took her under his wing just like he did when she was a puppy and taught her how to drink out of the toilet.

Today,

that thought makes me smile through my tears.

Tomorrow,

will be better, I hope!

************************************************************************************************************

Looking at my images from this past week made me realize that I only took pictures of things, not of my fave subjects – my kids. Guess, I need to do better this coming week!!!

This was the first week back in school after the Winter break and it took some getting used to the early mornings again. But then again, when will I ever get used to them – I love to sleep in!!!

I spent a few hours each on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday steam-cleaning all my carpets; including the stairs. It looks so good now and I hope, it stays that way at least for a little while. A big “Thank you” to my neighbor for the new steam cleaner. Bissell rocks.

We also celebrated hubby’s birthday with a fabulous dinner out and a special breakfast made by me!

Today, the girls and I went to a friend’s house-warming party. It was so nice to sit around and talk and see everyone from the kids’ old school again. I miss walking to school and talking with the other moms and catching up. So, this was nice. There were a lot of kids running around and they all had a blast. And my friend, who also happens to be from Germany, made a ton of delicious food. When we got home the girls were so pooped they went straight to bed. I’d call that a successful party. I also had a glass of Moscato for the first time and was pleasantly surprised that I liked it.

I’m trying out the new slide show feature for the first time. Hope you enjoy!
