Today, I cried…

January 17, 2013

Macy

 ~*~

Today,

I cried.

Today,

I cleaned — a lot. I usually clean when I’m upset.

Today,

I am very upset and sad. So, I cleaned — a lot.

Today,

we had to say goodbye to our sweet Macy. She was a part of this family for nearly 13 years.

I guess, you could say, she was our first baby. We had her since before our boy was born.

Today,

I remembered the day he dropped the little fur ball that she was into my lab, as a surprise.

Today,

I thought of our first few years with her. They were very tumultuous. She would run away the minute you opened the front door.

She loved to destroy the boy’s toys and nibble at his pudgy baby feet when he was in his Johnny Jumper.

She dug up most of the back yard and was just a crazy, excitable thing.

By the time the girls came along she mellowed out and was always very protective of them.

Today,

it was strange to only walk one dog.

Today,

I’m dreading  going to bed and missing the space she’s left behind — empty.

Today,

I thought, I was prepared for it. Knowing it was coming.

Today,

I was wrong.

Today,

I’m just heartbroken and so are the kids.

Middle keeps crying and talking about her. Little One doesn’t fully understand what’s going on.

She asked us if we could visit Macy and hubs tried to explain to her that she’s not here anymore.

Today,

I know, in my mind, that this is for the best. That she’s in a better place.

But my heart doesn’t want to hear it just yet.

Today,

I imagine her playing with my parents’ dog Jerry Lee.

I imagine, he took her under his wing just like he did when she was a puppy and taught her how to drink out of the toilet.

Today,

that thought makes me smile through my tears.

Tomorrow,

will be better, I hope!

Picture Perfect Sundays #18

August 25, 2012

I love to share photos and I love Instagram. I was one happy little blogger when Instagram became available on Android devices. I jumped, no leaped, on that particular social media bandwagon and have developed a new love affair/addiction with it. Because of this love affair I have decided to start my very own Sunday link up called… Picture Perfect Sundays!!!
I would love it if you would join me and share the treasures you captured with Instagram/phone camera/any other camera during the past week. I see a lot of fantastic, cute, funny and happy moments every day.

Share just one or many of your pictures and add a small description.

Just paste the badge into your post or sidebar and follow me… quick and simple. You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and of course, Instagram!

This week I didn’t take too many pictures but still have a few to share.

Today I spent most of the day prepping for the arrival of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Hubby and I cleaned the pool area and put everything inside. The pool deck is mostly empty and the garage filled to the hilt.

I went to the store and battled the crowds to get some non-perishable food and extra water in case we lose power.

I also did more laundry than I ever thought possible in a day… I managed to do 5 loads and everything is already folded and put away.

I may have gone overboard but even if we don’t lose power and it turns out not to be a big deal I’ll have a day to relax and only a small pile of laundry for a change!!! 🙂

The kids school will be closed on Monday — it would have been their first day of school — guess it’ll be on Tuesday now.

Okay then, here are a few of my Instagram shots from the last week.

Middle and the boy waiting out a rain storm by his locker during open house on Friday.

I couldn’t believe how happy they were to see their friends and go back to school.

Makes me happy! 🙂

Middle giving me a pedicure by the pool . A beautiful day with lots of sun…

The boy’s first golf practice. He had a good time and did well.

His thumbs not so much, he walked away with two huge blisters.

Didn’t stop him from going again two days later.

So proud.

Little One on her sister’s laptop.

Concentrating so hard.

She amazes me by how much she already knows.

Homemade chicken soup for my poor hubby who was laid up on the couch most of the week.

He”s doing much better…

Sisters getting along and hanging out with Joey watching over them.

He’s my neighbor’s dog and such a sweetheart.

The girls love him.

Now it’s your turn. Hope you all had a wonderful week. Can’t see your pics!!!

Co-hosting the fill in fun

August 9, 2012

Another week almost over, another week closer to the start of school. Summer always flies by in the blink of an eye. Why is that? This week the boy and I went to buy his books, and get his locker. He needs a locker in school now, I can’t wrap my mind around the fact that he’s in middle school. How did that happen? We still have a few more things to take care off… like buying uniforms, new shoes and of course, school supplies. My mom got each of them some cool new back bags so that’s one more thing scratched off the list. Today, I’m taking the boy for his yearly check-up and physical. Can’t wait to find out how tall he is… he went from fitting just under my chin to hitting the middle of my nose in no time flat. Everyone keeps telling me he’s gotten so tall. I guess, I don’t realize it so much because I see him daily. But others definitely notice the change. And then, later I’ll be meeting with the lovely Nicolette of Working on a Project. I can’t wait to get my hands on her beautiful new baby girl. Both Middle and Little One are excited to go and spend time with her daughter Miss. M and see the baby.

But now, on to the important matters at hand. Hilary made me co-host for this weeks Follow Friday Four Fill in Fun. How exciting is that? I came up with the last two statements.

Each week, Hilary plans on listing four statements with a blank for us to fill in on our own blogs. If you want to join the fun and come up with four fill in’s of your own, please email them to her at feelingbeachie@gmail.com. If she uses them, she will add you as co-host to the hop!

She would LOVE it if you could please help her spread the word about this hop…. So, please tweet, FaceBook share, and add the linky to your post…

This week’s statements:

1) When I was little my mom  _____

2)___ is my favorite condiment

3)I don’t like to celebrate____ because____

4)My ____takes up more space  _____ and I can never__________

My answers:

1) When I was little my mom used to make me toast with butter and cinnamon sugar and fennel tea when I wasn’t feeling good.

2) Ketchup is my favorite condiment.

3) I don’t like to celebrate Valentine’s Day because we shouldn’t need one day a year to show someone we love them. It about the little every day things…

4) My dog, Macy takes up more space on the bed and I can never move at night.
