Exercise, Jeans, the Elderly and more Pumpkin Spice

October 5, 2012

I’m sitting here still sweating and hot and waiting for my body to cool down. But I’m not complaining… I’m proud of myself for getting a work out in every day this week. I walked 2 miles every morning except for today. This morning I biked for almost 5 miles. I’d also like to mention that each time I either push a 40 lb preschooler in the stroller or have her in the co-pilot on the bike… 🙂 I love to be out and about and get my exercise… I’m not one for the gym. Guess it’s a good thing I live in Florida!!! 😉

Okay, time now to join Hilary for her weekly hop!!!!

Each week, Hilary plans on listing four statements with a blank for us to fill in on your own blogs. If you want to join the fun and come up with four fill in’s of your own, please email them to her at If she uses them, she will add you as co-host to the hop! This week’s co-host is Lisa from Third Time is a Charm – she came up with the last two statements

Hilary would LOVE it if you could please help her spread the word about this hop…. So, please tweet, FaceBook share, and add the linky to your post…

This week’s statements:

1. I am very ___
2. I am most comfy ___
3. You will never believe what I saw on my way ___________.
4. My mornings don’t start until _________ happens.

My answers:

1. I am very hot and sweaty right now – still cooling down from my morning bike ride.

2. I am most comfy in a pair of jeans, a nice top and sneakers or flip flops.

3. You will never believe what I saw on my way to driving the kids to school everyday. The amount of elderly people here is astounding and some of them should not be driving anymore. Talk about slowing down traffic.

4. My mornings don’t start until that first cup of pumpkin spice coffee happens.

A birthday (or two), some dancing, and a broken shoe…

September 28, 2012

It’s Friday and it’s more than welcome… today, there is nothing on my calendar, no alerts, no appointments, nothing.

I get to pick the kids up at normal dismissal time to start our weekend together.

No weekend plans either, for any of us… just time spend at home. I may finally do some yard work. I’m hoping my green thumb will temporarily make an appearance!!! 🙂

The week started with a birthday, actually two… first my MIL and the next day our little angel.

She’s 4 now. Not so little anymore and she lets us know it.

She has opinions about everything, from wearing her new outfit, to posing for the camera, to what’s for dinner.

Oh yes, a blonde, blue eyed little angel – with a little devil lurking inside!

And we love every part of her.

Don’t you just love those shorts?

Middle had her last dance performance at the last middle school home game for now.

She’s sad.

She wants to keep going and we are hoping that practice will continue and the school approves the team for basketball season.

If not, Spring isn’t that far away and there’ll be plenty more dancing to do…

I love watching her, the big smile on her face, the enthusiasm in her movements, the sheer joy she exhibits when she dances.

It brings back memories…

As for me, I’ll get to do some shoe shopping this weekend.

For myself.

Seems that my shoes are on strike and in the last few weeks three pairs of my “good” flip flops broke.

The last pair broke yesterday, at the school, walking to the field for Middle’s performance.

Have you ever shuffled along in a broken flip flop? Yeah, it’s not fun.

But, as always, looking at the positive side of things… new shoes, for me, yippie!!! 😉

I just realized, I need to take a picture of my boy with his new trumpet.

He’s loving it and enjoying being a trumpeter in the school band.

I can’t wait for his first performance…

Linking up with My Time as Mom and MamaTrack!!!

What a day… and some fill ins

July 7, 2012

It’s still Friday, barely, but until that clock strikes midnight it is and I’ll have enough time to finish up my fill ins for today.

It is also finally, blessedly quiet. I had so much planned and feel like I got nothing done.

Where did the day go? No, don’t answer that. Just a rhetorical question. It was a busy one alright.

Hubby worked out of the house part of the morning. For some reason when he’s here I never get as much done as when he’s out of the house right after breakfast. But what’s a good wife to do when her husband surprises her with a ticket to a blog conference? So excited. I’m going to Central Florida Blog Con in Orlando in September.

And as he sat there doing his research today sniffling and coughing and generally feeling miserable I made him lunch before sending him on his merry way.

Then, the almost daily nap time battle. Little One is giving me an awful time about her naps. It’s hit and miss, some days the magic works and others… not so much. Today, I lost… In between running up to her room every few minutes, I managed to get some cleaning done. I’m amazed at the dirt  things that were stuck between the couch cushions. Good thing my vacuum was up to the job!

After my cleaning streak I was hot and sweaty so I took the time and got my 20 minute swim in… It’s always a great time to recharge for me.

When nap time was officially over and the cleaning done, it was time to pick up the kids from their last day of camp… yes, you read that right, it was their last day. They went to camp for a month and now will be home the rest of the summer. Lots of pool time in store for me…

Pick up turned into drop off at one friends house, pick up at another friends house and a sleep over. Middle and her new friend from camp are fast asleep. The Boy is home from his friend’s house and the movie they went to see (Spiderman) and probably busy with one of his video games.

And mommy, me, is finally sitting on the couch with her feet up, the laptop in her lap and Justified on Amazon Prime. Why has no one told me about the yumminess that is Timothy Oliphant? Oh, my!!! Hubby really got into watching Justified and I never paid much attention. The other night he started over again and I started paying attention, big time. Eye candy, indeed… and no strippers in sight. 🙂

Anyhow, so now, time to fill in some blanks. Each week, Hilary posts four statements with blanks for us to fill in on our own blogs. It’s fun to see what everyone comes up with.

This weeks statements are:

1.       I ___ wear___

2.     I have had a lot of ___

3.     Public speaking makes me__________.

4.     My car always has_______because_______.

And here are my answers:

1. I always wear flip flops and I mean always. Hope there aren’t any podiatrists reading this.

2. I have had a lot of practice sweeping and vacuuming up dog hair. I do it pretty much every day…

3. Public speaking makes me nervous. My hands get sweaty, my voice breaks and my heart races… I much prefer speaking, singing and dancing in front and with a classroom of four-year-olds. Once a preschool teacher always a preschool teacher!

4. My car always has a mess in it because I drive around three mess makers. 🙂

And there you have it. Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend. It seems we may have guests tomorrow… and some yummy baby back ribs smoked by hubby!!! Come on by, plenty for everyone!!!

Follow Friday Four Fill in Fun #62

May 10, 2012

I’m so excited. It’s Friday again. One day closer to the weekend and time spend with my family that’s visiting from Germany. It’s so good to have them here (well, at my mom’s) but still – close by. My kids adore their great-uncle and love to play and laugh with him. He’s the best. 🙂

But now time for filling in some blanks. Each week Hilary at Feeling Beachie lists for statements on her blog with blanks for us to fill in on our own. This week I get to be her very happy and excited co-host. The last two statements are from me.

Here are this weeks statements :

1.       In the summer ___

2.       I always ____ when I___

3.       Reading ___  makes me ____

4.       I like to live _______ because  _____

And here are my answers:

1. In the summer I swim pretty much each and every day and live in my flip flops.

2. I always eat Twizzlers  when I watch any of the Twilight movies. (Sometimes even when I read the books.)

3. Reading on my Kindle app makes me really happy. I like it because I can read in bed at night without worrying about having lights on. Just recently made that discovery!

4. I like to live here in Florida because of the weather, being close to the ocean and all that nature here has to offer.
