Time to blog that is.
My fault for wasting most of my late afternoon/early evening on playing around with Blogger and setting up a blog there.
Just out of curiosity. I deleted it.
I’ll stick to WordPress, thank you very much.
I could have gotten this post ready instead of playing around.
But I didn’t…
And today I paid the price. I sit here, working on it now at 9:05 pm…
Because my shower looked like this in the morning, before the tile guys showed up.
They showed up earlier than we expected (that’s good, right?) and now my shower looks like this.
At the same time a guy from ATT showed up and we lost the Internet!!! 🙁 I.was.not.happy.
Then hubby’s grandma called… she couldn’t get anyone to come over to stay with her when a guy from Comcast was coming by to fix her TV. She’s almost 86… So, Susi to the rescue. I packed up the girls (Middle, her bestie and Little One) and we met her for lunch and then some pool fun at her house while the Comcast guy did his thing.
My bathroom still looks like this.
Yesterday, I played some more with my camera, been shooting mostly in manual and love the way this came out.
Our Macy checking out what’s going on outside from her comfy spot. Yes, that is her couch!!! 🙂
Here is the hubby with his new toy– a flight simulation game with proper joystick– on the big TV.
Even Little One is enthralled. And the other kids have taken their turn at the “wheel”.
Fun for everyone.
This is Middle mid jump at grandma’s this afternoon. Did I mention that they love the pool, any pool?
And Little One not to be outdone by big sister joined in.
Isn’t she just the cutest?
Not my usual Friday hop… Hilary took a break this week to mourn her kitty Alex’s passing.
I like this link up though and think I’ll be a regular here!!! If they’ll have me… 🙂
I sit here with the house quiet. The hubby and pooch snoring away next to me on the couch. The kids in bed of to dreamland. I’m looking forward to the week… Spring break and lots of fun planned and no 6 AM wake-up calls.
But first a look back at the weekend. What a gorgeous weekend it was. Perfect, glorious Spring days in Florida. Lots of sunshine, slight breezes and happy kid faces.
Friday, we beat the heat by going to our club pool right after we got home from school. Middle daughter had her best friend to splash around with. (Our own is still a little cold and we don’t have a heater. Yeah, I know, we are spoiled.)
While the girls were splashing around I was lounging on a pool chair with not a care in the world. The boys were off for a round of golf and judging by the big grins on their faces when they returned home, I’d say fun was had by all.
Middle daughter went for a sleep over at her besties and we enjoyed some burgers and wings in front of the TV. Every once in a while it’s a nice treat!
Saturday, the boys went off to a gun show so I had the morning to myself. Little one and I spent most of our alone time cleaning and straightening and preparing the corned beef and cabbage we had for dinner in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. By the time the boys returned from their trip the house was shiny and clean.
I snuck out for a little pampering and got a haircut. I feel like myself again. I don’t know why I keep getting it in my head I want to let my hair grow out. I love my short hair so much better and always feel so refreshed after a nice cut.
We enjoyed our dinner outside. Made a frozen yogurt run and capped of the day with our nightly walk with the pooches. The breeze was glorious and the skies gorgeous.
Sunday, same as usual, breakfast, getting everyone ready and then lunch with hubby’s grandma at her club. After, a change or two, oil changes to be exact since my car showed an annoying little red light indicating it wanted some greasiness.
Off to the pool again, this time mommy took a dip, too and oh, that first swim of the year is always the best. A nice walk home, dinner cooked by hubby waiting for us, eaten outside again and after clean-up, dog walk and baths… Time for some relaxing.
It doesn’t get better than that, does it? Looking forward to all this week will bring even the addition of another year on this Earth for me.
Well, almost… Spring Break starts next week for my kids. It’s always been one of my favorite breaks of the year.
We usually don’t go anywhere special but just relax and enjoy this time off from the daily grind. We sleep in a little later, enjoy not having to do homework and just spend time together. There are some things we do each and every Spring Break, it’s become somewhat of a tradition.
Living in Florida the weather is just about perfect this time of year. As much as I love the summers off… it’s so hot that all you want to do is lounge in the pool or stay inside where it’s blissfully air-conditioned. During Spring Break it’s still cool enough that being outside, enjoying the sun and breeze, is a pleasure.
One of the things that always seems to be on our to do list during this week is fishing. My kids love to go fishing… our neighborhood is dotted with lovely, well stocked lakes/ponds. Ever since the boy was about 4 years old this has become our thing. I can proudly say that I have caught a wide mouth bass or two and even some good-sized catfish. We “feed” the fish Nathan’s hotdogs and get lots of bites.
We also enjoy going to our club pool… it’s heated which makes it a great alternative to our own “frozen” backyard pool. I’m usually still too chicken to go in the water because it’s just not hot enough for my thinned down blood, yet. Some German I am!!! 🙂 But I enjoy sitting in one of the lounge chairs with a good book and keep an eye on the kids frolicking in the water. All 3 of mine seem to have been born water babies. They could go on and on and on…
Another activity that starts up again is our nightly bike ride through the neighborhood. Since it’s light out longer again we try to go for a family bike ride after dinner and look around to see if anything’s changed. I’ve always enjoyed this one and can’t wait for that first ride!!! Little one loves sitting on her co-pilot seat and feel the wind in her face and hair.
I’m hoping we can also get some beach time in. As much as I love the beach we don’t go nearly often enough. But little one isn’t so little anymore so it might be more fun for all of us. Better make sure I have lots and lots of sunscreen… our fair German/Irish skin does not like too much sun exposure!
This year there’s also a special treat for hubby and I at the end of the week. It’s my birthday that Friday so my mom is taking the kids for 2 nights, yes, 2 nights so hubs and I can get a little adult only time. I am super excited since we get to spend the day together by ourselves and enjoy a cruise on the American Victory. Remember that post? Click here if you need a refresher! Gosh, I can’t remember the last time we didn’t have at least one child over night. It’ll be so great. Thanks, mom!!! 🙂
I’m linking up with Rory at Time out for Mom for her Tuesday Coffee Chat.
