I’m so excited to be doing a one year anniversary giveaway. It seems like yesterday that I was pouring over the WordPress for Dummies and Mom Blogging for Dummies books. Learning the ins and outs before I took the plunge. Those first few nights when I set up my blog were long ones. I remember having so much fun playing around with customizing the theme and I still enjoy doing that. Only now it’s a premium theme! 🙂
I learned so much this past year and it seems like a whole new world opened up to me. I’ve learned more about the ins and outs of web design and HTML than I ever thought I would. I found a new passion besides blogging — photography. You will always find me snapping pictures on my phone or my nifty new(ish) camera.
Social media is one of my good friends. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ … I love it all and check in for a bit each day. My fave by far is Instagram. I love seeing what everyone is up to.
I wouldn’t be here without a few special people… My hubby for suggesting I start blogging, for supporting me, and letting me work away late at night on the couch next to him. Hilary for showing me the ropes and helping me get my blog out there and meeting my first few special bloggy friends. Leslie for opening up her corner of the blogosphere and letting me write my first guest post and for being a friend. BethAnn for being the sweetest, nicest person I have “met” in the blogosphere and for that awesome tea you sent me! The list goes on, I’ve met many wonderful people on and offline, but these 3 especially have been there since the beginning and they are still here… so Thanks to all of you!!! Luv ya.
I do have to say “Thanks.” to my kids for stopping them in their tracks so I can get just one more shot and for providing me with plenty of blog fodder. To my mom and dad for moving us half way across the world and letting me learn English as my second language… it is the most widely used language in blogging after all. 🙂
I could go on and on but I’ll stop here for now and continue my gushing another time.
I really just want to say “Thank You!!!” to each and every one of you who read my blog, who follow me on any of the social networks and who embraced me here in the interwebs.
Here’s to the next year!!!
I tried keeping the rafflecopter easy and simple. Good luck to all of you. I can’t wait to find out who the winner will be!
I’m sitting here still sweating and hot and waiting for my body to cool down. But I’m not complaining… I’m proud of myself for getting a work out in every day this week. I walked 2 miles every morning except for today. This morning I biked for almost 5 miles. I’d also like to mention that each time I either push a 40 lb preschooler in the stroller or have her in the co-pilot on the bike… 🙂 I love to be out and about and get my exercise… I’m not one for the gym. Guess it’s a good thing I live in Florida!!! 😉
Okay, time now to join Hilary for her weekly hop!!!!
Each week, Hilary plans on listing four statements with a blank for us to fill in on your own blogs. If you want to join the fun and come up with four fill in’s of your own, please email them to her at firstname.lastname@example.org. If she uses them, she will add you as co-host to the hop! This week’s co-host is Lisa from Third Time is a Charm – she came up with the last two statements
Hilary would LOVE it if you could please help her spread the word about this hop…. So, please tweet, FaceBook share, and add the linky to your post…
This week’s statements:
1. I am very ___
2. I am most comfy ___
3. You will never believe what I saw on my way ___________.
4. My mornings don’t start until _________ happens.
1. I am very hot and sweaty right now – still cooling down from my morning bike ride.
2. I am most comfy in a pair of jeans, a nice top and sneakers or flip flops.
3. You will never believe what I saw on my way to driving the kids to school everyday. The amount of elderly people here is astounding and some of them should not be driving anymore. Talk about slowing down traffic.
4. My mornings don’t start until that first cup of pumpkin spice coffee happens.
As you may already know I love all things pumpkin spice and earlier this week I shared some pictures of these yummy pumpkin spice cupcakes I made. I am so happy with how these came out. Light and fluffy, just the right amount of flavor and the cinnamon cream cheese frosting is the perfect compliment.
So here as promised Kimberly, the recipe for the cupcakes that will definitely grace our Thanksgiving table this year!!!
Ingredients: ( makes 12)
1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons brown sugar
1 egg (room temperature)
1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons milk
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
Preheat oven to 375° and grease (or line with paper cups) 12 muffin cups.
Sift together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, allspice, salt, baking powder and baking soda.
In another bowl, combine the butter, white sugar and brown sugar and beat with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add the egg, then stir in the milk and pumpkin puree.
Now mix together the flour mixture and wet ingredients.
Pour batter into muffin cups.
Bake for 22 – 25 minutes until golden and the tops spring back when lightly pressed.
Cool completely before frosting.
Cinnamon Cream Cheese frosting:
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Mix everything together with an electric mixer, add the confectioners’ sugar last and in batches.
After reading Stasha’s post I don’t feel quite so bad about being late to the party. It seems I’m not the only one who feels a time crunch lately. I’m going, going, going. Where? Not exactly sure.
Let’s continue and list ten things Fall.
Well, things that feel like Fall to me. In my little corner of the world Fall, or any other season besides Summer, doesn’t exactly happen. 🙂
Here is my list of 10 Fall faves:
1. Pumpkin Spice
K-cups from Green Mountain coffee. I cannot wait for these to show up on the store shelves and have my first cup of the season. Yum!!!
2. Pumpkin Spice rooibus tea. Because I cannot get enough of Pumpkin Spice and this tea is caffeine free. Perfect for night time.
3. Baking – Pumpkin Spice cupcakes, anyone? Oh my, these are heavenly and the kitchen smelled just delicious while they were baking. I will add these to my Thanksgiving menu for sure. Recipe on Thursday!!!
4. Cooler mornings. Yes, it does cool down a little and most mornings and evenings it’s just gorgeous out. Enjoying those walks a lot more now.
5. Less humidity. We are not quite there, yet. But it’s coming and I will enjoy it tremendously. I never mind the heat of Summer but the humidity I can live without.
6. Baked chicken with German potato dumplings. Those heavier meals that we just don’t feel like eating during the hottest months of the year are making a comeback to our table.
7. Costumes. My kids still adore dressing up and buying the costumes for Halloween are just a part of fall.
8. Pictures of leaves changing. I miss that, watching the leaves change color, fall to the ground and walking through them. Crunch!!!
9. Halloween cups. They hide in the back of the cupboard most of the year and only come out around this time of year. Love them. 🙂
10. Pumpkins. Carving them, cleaning the seeds and roasting them. Salted, roasted Pumpkin seeds. Yes, please. 🙂
Thanks, Stasha for this great topic.
This week will be Fall themed here on my blog. Can you believe my 1 year blogaversary is coming up on Saturday?
I can’t. It seems just like yesterday when I opened my WordPress for Dummies book.
I’m thinking about a Fall themed, actually, a Pumpkin Spice flavored giveaway as a way to say “Thank you.” to all my friends and readers in my little space. What to you think?
I love to share photos and I love Instagram. I was one happy little blogger when Instagram became available on Android devices. I jumped, no leaped, on that particular social media bandwagon and have developed a new love affair/addiction with it. Because of this love affair I have decided to start my very own weekly link up called… Picture Perfect Weekly!!! I would love it if you would join me and share the treasures you captured with Instagram/phone camera/any other camera during the past week. I see a lot of fantastic, cute, funny and happy moments every day.
Share just one or many of your pictures and add a small description.
Just paste the badge into your post or sidebar and follow me… quick and simple. You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and of course, Instagram!
I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!
I love days like today.
Nowhere to be, no rushing around, just a “lazy” day at home.
All of us together.
I started the day by baking homemade drop biscuits for breakfast.
Hubby made the gravy to go with them.
We all ate breakfast together.
I continued on my de-cluttering mission and cleaned and straightened up a bit.
The girls helped when they weren’t busy painting.
The boys went to get desperately needed haircuts. Finally!
Hubby jammed on his guitars while I snapped away with my camera.
Then I did some more baking.
A new recipe. Pumpkin Spice cupcakes with cinnamon cream cheese frosting.
I will share the recipe soon. They are divine and perfect for Fall!
Because it was a perfect lazy day we went fishing.
Hubby had to go to a birthday party.
The fish were biting. At least for me! I caught two catfish.
One of them snapped my rod.
After an easy dinner and getting everyone settled I soaked in the tub and lost myself in the pages of “New Moon”.
The house is quiet now.
I’m sipping tea and going through all the pictures I snapped today.
Can’t wait to show them off.
Hope you all had a great weekend!!! 🙂
Now it’s your turn to show of your perfect pictures!
Please, grab the code for the badge in the sidebar and show off your favorite shots of the week.
