Chocolate Lovers Unite {Wordless Wednesday}

January 1, 2013

fonduefunWe spent New Year’s Eve with my mom, just like we have the past few years. As usual, a smorgasbord of goodies was waiting for us. The kids’ favorite (mine as well) was by far the chocolate fondue. I couldn’t stop going back for more and finally had to  clean up and put all the food away. A new tradition may have been born!!!

Picture Perfect Weekly #34 {Last one of the Year}

December 22, 2012

I love to share photos and I love Instagram. I was one happy little blogger when Instagram became available on Android devices. I jumped, no leaped, on that particular social media bandwagon and have developed a new love affair/addiction with it. Because of this love affair I have decided to start my very own weekly link up called… Picture Perfect Weekly!!!
I would love it if you would join me and share the treasures you captured with Instagram/phone camera/any other camera during the past week. I see a lot of fantastic, cute, funny and happy moments every day.

Share just one or many of your pictures and add a small description.

Just paste the badge into your post or sidebar and follow me… quick and simple. You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and of course, Instagram!

I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!

It’s hard to imagine that I’ve been doing my Picture Perfect Weekly hop for 34 weeks now and we are at years end. This will be the last one for this year. I’m going to take next week off and then come back in the New Year. I’m going to start fresh again and start counting from week one. It’ll be the Picture Perfect Weekly 2013 edition… 52 weeks of picture perfect moments!!! I hope, you’ll join me!!!

Here are a few moments from my week. It’s been a bit busy around here. The boy had is first ever midterms last week and his schedule was all wacko so I had to do quite a few double runs to school and back. And of course I’m in full prep mode for Christmas. I still have a few things to get and all the presents still need wrapping! Anyone want to help? 🙂 I always tell myself that next year I’ll start shopping earlier and get things done quicker and then time just gets away from me.

12-22 gingerbread boyWe didn’t make gingerbread houses this year but I found a kit for gingerbread men. The boy was the first one to decorate one. He also proceeded to eat his right away!!!

12-22 cookie decorator

Little one was my number one decorator yesterday. We had to make a second batch of Christmas cookies so we could leave some for Santa Christmas Eve!

12-22 more Christmas cookies

 I made a lot of candy cane cookies. For some reason I really like them this year!

12-22 big Christmas tree

This tree is in front of the Marriot hotel here in Boca. It’s absolutely beautiful and so big. See Little One in front of it?

12-22 reflections

I named this one Reflections. The lake was like glass one morning this past week and I loved the way the trees were a mirror imagine. I chose a black and white filter because it just seemed to fit with the barren trees.

Thank you all who stopped by each week to see what I have been up to and to all of you who linked up. I truly appreciate it and I hope, you will once again join me in the New Year beginning January 6, 2013!

Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!!!!

Santa and Mrs. Claus {Wordless Wednesday}

Santa and Mrs. Claus

Linking up with Hilary at FeelingBeachie for Wordless Wednesday.

About the photographs: I love my Santa and Mrs. Claus salt and pepper shakers. They always have a special spot on the dining room table. Recently, I was practicing to get the bokeh effect (the blurred background/light circles from the Christmas tree) with my camera. I was pretty happy with the results as I’m still using the kit lens. And what better subjects this time of year than Santa and his lovely Mrs. Claus?

Here are my truly treasured moments from the past week:

ppw collage #33

Where do I start? How do I start?

Like you, I am stunned. I am in disbelief. I can’t fathom this terrible tragedy.

26 souls gone too soon.

I have no words.

Can’t wrap my mind around it.

I’ve had a lump in my throat and tears pricking the backs of my eyes for days now.

I’ve been holding my children a little closer and kept the computer closed a little longer.

And yet, I know that whatever it is I’m feeling is nothing, NOTHING compared to what the families and friends of those killed are feeling.

I took the picture of the rainbow Friday morning after I returned home from walking the dogs. It would have been somewhere around 9:30 AM. It posted on Facebook at 9:42 AM. I love rainbows and to me they always mean something positive. Today, looking at the time, it makes me wonder!

Looking back at these snapshots of my week, knowing what happened on Friday, make me appreciate these little moments just a little more.

Hug your children a little closer and say “I Love you” a little more often!

Thanks for being here with me.

xoxo, Susi

***********************************************************************************************************

I’m way behind this week. Usually, I have this up and running late Saturday night. Not so much this week. Part of the reason is that I didn’t take too many Instagram pics this past week and part of it is that I was too tired at the end of the day to deal with it. I’ve been in the downey dumps lately and just feeling blah.

But. It’s a new day, a new week and that means up and onward with things!!!

So, here are a few of my favorite Instagram shots of the past week.

This is a sight seen few and far between. All three of the kiddos fell asleep on the couch one afternoon last week. The girls had been a little under the weather and I guess, the boy was just too tired. We enjoyed the unexpected quiet!

On December 6 was “Nikolaus Tag” in Germany. I have to admit that this is a tradition I’m not too good of keeping up. I try and then forget again. But my sister was visiting and did the honors. The children were very happy to wake up to some treat filled shoes!

Saturday night was the first night of Hanukkah and we went to dinner with hubby’s grandma. I wore a dress for the occasion. Grandma kept remarking how she didn’t realize I was so beautiful because I was wearing a dress. Guess, I don’t look beautiful on any other given day!!! 😉

After dinner I arrived home to find the boys jamming together. Seems the boy is really developing his interest in playing guitar. It was nice to see them together like this!!!

We’ve been walking the dogs around the neighborhood at night to see all the lights and decorations. This one is Middle’s favorite. It’s just so huge!

On Saturday afternoon I finally got my butt in gear to put up the outside decorations and lights. I love decorating inside the house and putting up the tree but outside is almost an afterthought. I love having the lights up but I just dislike the work, I guess. I’m pretty happy with the results after sweating in the sun for an afternoon!

I also did some baking this weekend. Little One was at the neighbor’s house yesterday afternoon so I decided to break out the baking stuff and do some baking on my own for a change. I made eggnog cupcakes with a vanilla-rum-nutmeg cheesecake frosting. I really like the way they came out but the kids are not as impressed as usual. Not enough chocolate, I guess!!! 🙂 Oh well, more for mommy. Good thing, I started doing Pilates again! 😉

There is one more picture I wanted to share but will save it for Allison’s and Galit’s Memories Captured link up. So stay tuned!!!

Picture Perfect Weekly #31 {For the love of the game}

I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!

I love this time of night. All is quiet. My three monsters  angels are fast asleep and off in dreamland. Hubby is snoring away on the couch. This time of year it’s even better because I get to sit in front of the soft glow of the Christmas tree. I’m happy my family is back together after our weekend adventures. Middle had a great time exploring New York and bonding with Hilary. While the boy, little one and I spent the weekend at my mom’s. There we spent some time with my sister and niece who will be returning to Germany all too soon and also had the chance to go to a hockey game.

Here now, some of my most recent Instagram shots…

We had such a blast at the hockey game. The Florida Everblades (the home team) played the Greenville Warriors and won. This was a special event. Every year around this time they have a “Teddy Bear Toss”. Spectators are asked to bring either teddy bears or other stuffed animals to the game. As soon as the Everblades score their first goal the audience starts throwing the stuffed animals on the ice. The stuffed animals get donated to Toys for Tots. I will post more pictures taken with my Nikon D3200 soon.

I love these salt and pepper shakers my mom has. Santa and Mrs. Claus stealing a kiss!!! There’s just something about coming to mom’s house around Christmas time and seeing all her pretty decorations. Makes me feel like a little girl again every time.

Mom made this Advent wreath and this morning we lit the the first candle. I remember that the wreath was one of the only “decorations” we had out until just before Christmas. I loved seeing the candles burn down a little more each week.

Little One remembered that Omi has chalk in the garage. So I had to draw a hopscotch pattern for her. We had lots of fun being silly and jumping around.

Snuggles with mommy are the best. Little One hid in bed under her covers because she needed a little break from her 18 months old cousin. Toddlers can be a lot of work!

On the way home we stopped by John Stretch Memorial Park on the edge of Palm Beach County by Lake Okeechobee (the big lake in the middle of Florida). For going 13 years we’ve been driving by there a few times a year and never once stopped. Today, the sun was shining, we were in no rush to get home, so I decided to stop. This picture was taken from the Herbert Hoover Dam.

And this? When did this happen? My little boy. My first born. He’s not so little anymore. Here he is ready for his band performance for the school’s holiday show. So proud of my not so little trumpet player!

Lastly another self-portrait. I don’t wear much make-up generally. A little mascara. A little lip-gloss. A little concealer. I’m good to go. But sometimes it’s fun to pull out a few more stops and primp.

There you have it, peeps. What about you? Got any pics you’d like to share? Please, please do… I want to see!!! 🙂

Hope everyone has a great week.
