Fill in fun and a weekend getaway…

September 13, 2012

Another week almost over.

So glad this one is almost behind us.

If I wasn’t so tired I would let out my little rant.

I will write up a little post about my week… later.

It wasn’t all bad.

And this weekend should be interesting and fun.

Hubby and I are heading to Orlando for the Central Florida Blog Conference this weekend — sans kids.

My mom is coming over to watch them for us.

Thank you, mommy. We really appreciate it… I know you’ve been working like crazy.

I’m excited to meet some new bloggy friends and to see my friend Nicolette again.

Every time we’ve seen each other we’ve really hit it off and can just sit and talk for hours.

I’m also looking forward to learning new things and to broaden my horizons.

And lastly, there looks to be some awesome food to be had while in Orlando.

Hubby and I are meeting with an old friend for dinner both Friday and Saturday…

I’ll be sure to share my experiences with you guys when I get back!!!

Time to join my lovely  friend Hilary for some fill in fun.

Each week, Hilary plans on listing four statements with a blank for you to fill in on your own blogs. If you want to join the fun and come up with four fill in’s of your own, please email them to her at If she uses them, she will add you as co-host to the hop! This week’s co-host is Annie from the Lemon Drop – She came up with the last two statements

Hilary would LOVE it if you could please help her spread the word about this hop…. So, please tweet, FaceBook share, and add the linky to your post…

This week’s statements:

1. I like to __ when I am ___
2. ___ is my favorite vegetable
3. I get ________ when I ___________.
4. I’m surprised by _________ and ____________.

My answers:

1. I like to snuggle in bed and read when I am not feeling good.

2. Carrots and peas mixed is my favorite vegetable. (This one was tough… I like so many different veggies.)

3. I get super excited and happy when I take out my camera lately.

4. I’m surprised by the way some people run their companies and wonder how they stay around.

I started pinning

February 12, 2012

I took the plunge today and started pinning. On Pinterest. Yes, I finally requested an invite and got one within one day. I would love it if some of you pinners out there could help me along and show me the ropes so to speak. I only have a few boards up but I’m sure that’s going to change soon. I can feel another obsession in the making. I added the handy dandy social button on my sidebar so feel free to follow along with my pins. I would love it!!! 🙂

It’s been a quiet weekend here. The entire household with the exception of Little One was/is under the weather. I hope, she won’t get the same cold bug the rest of us had. All I want to do is sleep, sleep and sleep some more. I haven’t had the will or energy to write up any of the post ideas I have. And the list keeps growing. Instead, I browse around online, checking Facebook, Twitter… and now Pinterest. 🙂

Thanks to Twitter I got the news of Whitney Houston’s untimely death, last night. Middle daughter and I were in the middle of watching our newly acquired DVD of Breaking Dawn Pt. 1 when the news hit. At first I wasn’t sure if it was true since one of my Twitter buddies said that ABC news had issued a retraction and said that it was not true. But sadly, it is all too true and the music industry lost a true legend (in my mind) yesterday. R.I.P. Whitney Houston.

I was really looking forward to watching the Grammys tonight as I always have had an affection for award shows. Now, I’m not so sure what to expect. It’ll be a different show for sure. A lot sadder, too. And I’m sure there will be tears rolling down my face tonight.

On a more positive note, I went out Saturday morning with Middle Daughter and bought our copy of the Breaking Dawn DVD. We got the special edition one with a beautifully framed prop flower from the wedding scene. I couldn’t resist. And we sure enjoyed our movie night with popcorn and Twizzlers!!!

My weekend in pictures…

January 9, 2012

It’s late and I really should be in bed. Tomorrow the big kids go back to school that means I have to be out of bed by 6:30 AM. 🙁 I was just going to post a few pictures and then head of to bed. Well, picking the shots that I liked took a little longer than I thought. I took about 200 pics this weekend, learning the ins and outs of my camera. No, it’s not new–I just didn’t realize how much it can actually do. Since I’ve started blogging I pay a lot more attention to my photos. It’s another new passion.

We had a really great weekend. Friday the five of us headed out to dinner at the Old Key Lime House which is a new favorite of ours. It’s on the water and you can even pull up by boat. Saturday after a big breakfast, hubby suggested we get in the car and check out the guitar shop he had found online. Since I’m trying to be more spontaneous and a drive sounded just fine in this glorious weather we’ve been having, I was all for it. How lucky that the guitar shop was right across the street from the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary? What a great place. They rehabilitate wild animals that are injured and work completely from donations. We bought some things at the gift shop…

After we got home hubby had to try out the new toy and I was all ready to enjoy a quiet night. That wasn’t happening. We had an impromptu get-together with our neighbors and ended up cooking surf and turf. I’m really getting into this spontaneity thing. Hope it will last throughout the year!!!

Sunday dawned sunny and bright yet again. We headed out to our usual family lunch with hubby’s grandma. After we got home the girls played with one of their friends, hubby worked on some car maintenance, and I spend time with my camera’s manual and made the girls pose for me. We finished this weekend with a home-cooked meal of chicken Alfredo made by yours truly. Oh, and I managed to beat hubby at ping-pong. I’m pretty good!!! 🙂
