1-26 starbucks breakThis week we had our Starbucks stop on Thursday instead of our usual Tuesday. It was busy and we ended up sitting outside. The girls and I didn’t mind, it was a beautiful day. Have you had one of these Kind bars? They are so delicious and such a guilt-free snack!!!

1-26 bike rideOne morning, it was nice and cool out, little one wanted to go for a bike ride. So, we did. She put on her Ariel helmet, hopped on and took a ride around the neighborhood circle. I followed, as fast as I could with Gracie, our Yorkie. She likes to stop on every mailbox – which makes for slow going sometimes.

1-26 sick girlThen, the sickness hit and little one started complaining of a sore throat and green coop started coming out of her nose. It seems to have been short lived and she’s feeling much better. Of course, the boy has been complaining the past few days… You know how it goes, once it’s in the house everyone gets it.

1-26 sleepy girlNap time is a thing of the past for this four year old. But thanks to Sarah McLachlan and not feeling well she ended sleeping for an hour in the car when we went to pick up the kids from school one afternoon this past week! I realized after posting the picture that she’s drooling a little.

1-26 pasta dinnerA favorite Saturday night dinner – spaghetti, marinara, breaded chicken cutlets and mozzarella cheese – in front of the TV. I’ve been using the “healthy” Barilla pasta as much as I can get away with. I get some complaints but in the end everyone eats it.

1-26 makeup girlMiddle loves to play and experiment with make up. I get regular “make overs” and sometimes I return the favor. Thanks to a fabulous Smashbox kit my mom gave Middle for Christmas we have hours of fun. I love the creamy eyeliner that you put on with a special brush!

***********************************************************************************************************

I’m way behind this week. Usually, I have this up and running late Saturday night. Not so much this week. Part of the reason is that I didn’t take too many Instagram pics this past week and part of it is that I was too tired at the end of the day to deal with it. I’ve been in the downey dumps lately and just feeling blah.

But. It’s a new day, a new week and that means up and onward with things!!!

So, here are a few of my favorite Instagram shots of the past week.

This is a sight seen few and far between. All three of the kiddos fell asleep on the couch one afternoon last week. The girls had been a little under the weather and I guess, the boy was just too tired. We enjoyed the unexpected quiet!

On December 6 was “Nikolaus Tag” in Germany. I have to admit that this is a tradition I’m not too good of keeping up. I try and then forget again. But my sister was visiting and did the honors. The children were very happy to wake up to some treat filled shoes!

Saturday night was the first night of Hanukkah and we went to dinner with hubby’s grandma. I wore a dress for the occasion. Grandma kept remarking how she didn’t realize I was so beautiful because I was wearing a dress. Guess, I don’t look beautiful on any other given day!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

After dinner I arrived home to find the boys jamming together. Seems the boy is really developing his interest in playing guitar. It was nice to see them together like this!!!

We’ve been walking the dogs around the neighborhood at night to see all the lights and decorations. This one is Middle’s favorite. It’s just so huge!

On Saturday afternoon I finally got my butt in gear to put up the outside decorations and lights. I love decorating inside the house and putting up the tree but outside is almost an afterthought. I love having the lights up but I just dislike the work, I guess. I’m pretty happy with the results after sweating in the sun for an afternoon!

I also did some baking this weekend. Little One was at the neighbor’s house yesterday afternoon so I decided to break out the baking stuff and do some baking on my own for a change. I made eggnog cupcakes with a vanilla-rum-nutmeg cheesecake frosting. I really like the way they came out but the kids are not as impressed as usual. Not enough chocolate, I guess!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh well, more for mommy. Good thing, I started doing Pilates again! ๐Ÿ˜‰

There is one more picture I wanted to share but will save it for Allison’s and Galit’s Memories Captured link up. So stay tuned!!!

I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!

I love this time of night. All is quiet. My three monstersย  angels are fast asleep and off in dreamland. Hubby is snoring away on the couch. This time of year it’s even better because I get to sit in front of the soft glow of the Christmas tree. I’m happy my family is back together after our weekend adventures. Middle had a great time exploring New York and bonding with Hilary. While the boy, little one and I spent the weekend at my mom’s. There we spent some time with my sister and niece who will be returning to Germany all too soon and also had the chance to go to a hockey game.

Here now, some of my most recent Instagram shots…

We had such a blast at the hockey game. The Florida Everblades (the home team) played the Greenville Warriors and won. This was a special event. Every year around this time they have a “Teddy Bear Toss”. Spectators are asked to bring either teddy bears or other stuffed animals to the game. As soon as the Everblades score their first goal the audience starts throwing the stuffed animals on the ice. The stuffed animals get donated to Toys for Tots. I will post more pictures taken with my Nikon D3200 soon.

I love these salt and pepper shakers my mom has. Santa and Mrs. Claus stealing a kiss!!! There’s just something about coming to mom’s house around Christmas time and seeing all her pretty decorations. Makes me feel like a little girl again every time.

Mom made this Advent wreath and this morning we lit the the first candle. I remember that the wreath was one of the only “decorations” we had out until just before Christmas. I loved seeing the candles burn down a little more each week.

Little One remembered that Omi has chalk in the garage. So I had to draw a hopscotch pattern for her. We had lots of fun being silly and jumping around.

Snuggles with mommy are the best. Little One hid in bed under her covers because she needed a little break from her 18 months old cousin. Toddlers can be a lot of work!

On the way home we stopped by John Stretch Memorial Park on the edge of Palm Beach County by Lake Okeechobee (the big lake in the middle of Florida). For going 13 years we’ve been driving by there a few times a year and never once stopped. Today, the sun was shining, we were in no rush to get home, so I decided to stop. This picture was taken from the Herbert Hoover Dam.

And this? When did this happen? My little boy. My first born. He’s not so little anymore. Here he is ready for his band performance for the school’s holiday show. So proud of my not so little trumpet player!

Lastly another self-portrait. I don’t wear much make-up generally. A little mascara. A little lip-gloss. A little concealer. I’m good to go. But sometimes it’s fun to pull out a few more stops and primp.

There you have it, peeps. What about you? Got any pics you’d like to share? Please, please do… I want to see!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope everyone has a great week.

Picture Perfect Weekly #30 {Thanksgiving Edition}

November 24, 2012

I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!

Here are some of mine.

Our Thanksgiving table set by yours truly. I do enjoy setting a pretty table. I often wish I had fancier dishes or fancy cloth napkins with napkin rings but in the end it’s the family that sits around the table that matters, not what the food is served on!

Little One really, really enjoyed the turkey legs. She had both and one of the wings!!!

Our desserts — a pumpkin bundt cake made from a recipe by Eatpicksย (Thanks, Kelly!)ย and my sister made the key lime pie.

We had plenty of leftovers, especially turkey. So I made two turkey pot pies.

We ate the turkey pot pie on our Christmas dishes. They come out the day after Thanksgiving every year and I love to use them. They make me smile and my heart happy!

And turkey soup. This one was a team effort… hubby started it and I finished it. It was great for dinner but can’t wait to try it for lunch tomorrow after sitting overnight!

Another thing we do the day/weekend after Thanksgiving is put out all our Christmas decorations (and our menorahs, as well). I always love this little area with the stockings and the two Christmas bears.

Ta da… our Christmas tree. We actually got an artificial, pre-lit tree this year. I do love getting a real tree but I hate the mess and having to water it. Also, I could never wait to let the branches fall properly before decorating. Middle did find these awesome little stick ornaments you can hide in the tree and they make it smell just like a real one… it really works! ๐Ÿ™‚

Last but not least, a little hot chocolate treat with PfeffernรผรŸe. Best enjoyed while sitting by the lit tree and listen to some Christmas tunes!

I added this shot of vultures flying over our neighborhood to make it ten so I can link up with Stasha for Monday Listicles!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day and weekend.

My week in Instagram pics:

Another week over. Another week that brought new things.

I tried raw oysters for the very first time this week! Something, I swore to myself I would never eat. But you know how that saying goes? “Never, say never!!!” It certainly proved true for me… we went to our favorite Japanese restaurant and had an assortment of raw seafood… starting with raw Kumomoto oysters (delish), raw abalone (my fave of the night) and raw giant clam and of course, a stable for us every time we go there now, raw scallop (to die for)!!! I love this place, always something new to try and just so well prepared.

We also did some baking and tried the first cupcake recipe out of Little One’s new princess baking recipe book. I’m planning on going through all the recipes and sharing them. Such cute ideas in that book.

The boy was modeling the newest fashions in video game head gear — little sister’s baby doll carrier!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And he also got a new Lego set in honor of the season and as usual was finished much too fast. May I present the Vampyre Hearse!

Thursday afternoon after lunch with great-grandma and Little One posing in the landscaping, we had to go pick the big kids up early from school in preparation for Hurricane Sandy passing by close to shore. All in all, not too bad, rain on and off and very windy conditions. The girls’ hair was flying everywhere while we were out walking the dogs. Hubby decided to take advantage of the dreary, overcast skies and pressure clean the pool deck. It needed it and this way he wasn’t working in the blazing sun. It looks nice and clean and fresh now.

I also, finally, managed to get our Halloween decorations out this past Monday, quite early for me. As good as I am about decorating for the Holidays, Halloween is never big on my list. But I think, I did pretty good this year and the kids are very happy!

My girls had a blast today at their friend’s birthday party… they spent close to 5 hours on the bounce house/water slide combination and only took short breaks for cake and some pizza! I’d call that a success. They are pooped and have been asleep for a few hours already. I’ve been enjoying the quiet!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

How about you? What have you been up to this week? Care to share?

I also want to take a moment and tell all my readers and bloggy friends who are in the path of Hurricane Sandy/Frankenstorm that I hope, you all stay safe and the damage won’t be as bad as expected. I’ll be thinking of you. Also, door’s always open if you’d like to come here for a few days and enjoy the sunshine!!!

I love days like today.

Nowhere to be, no rushing around, just a “lazy” day at home.

All of us together.

I started the day by baking homemade drop biscuits for breakfast.

Hubby made the gravy to go with them.

We all ate breakfast together.

I continued on my de-cluttering mission and cleaned and straightened up a bit.

The girls helped when they weren’t busy painting.

The boys went to get desperately needed haircuts. Finally!

Hubby jammed on his guitars while I snapped away with my camera.

Then I did some more baking.

A new recipe. Pumpkin Spice cupcakes with cinnamon cream cheese frosting.

I will share the recipe soon. They are divine and perfect for Fall!

Because it was a perfect lazy day we went fishing.

Hubby had to go to a birthday party.

Gorgeous evening.

The fish were biting. At least for me! I caught two catfish.

One of them snapped my rod.

After an easy dinner and getting everyone settled I soaked in the tub and lost myself in the pages of “New Moon”.

The house is quiet now.

I’m sipping tea and going through all the pictures I snapped today.

Can’t wait to show them off.

Hope you all had a great weekend!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Now it’s your turn to show of your perfect pictures!

Please, grab the code for the badge in the sidebar and show off your favorite shots of the week.

Picture Perfect Sundays #18

This week I didn’t take too many pictures but still have a few to share.

Today I spent most of the day prepping for the arrival of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Hubby and I cleaned the pool area and put everything inside. The pool deck is mostly empty and the garage filled to the hilt.

I went to the store and battled the crowds to get some non-perishable food and extra water in case we lose power.

I also did more laundry than I ever thought possible in a day… I managed to do 5 loads and everything is already folded and put away.

I may have gone overboard but even if we don’t lose power and it turns out not to be a big deal I’ll have a day to relax and only a small pile of laundry for a change!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

The kids school will be closed on Monday — it would have been their first day of school — guess it’ll be on Tuesday now.

Okay then, here are a few of my Instagram shots from the last week.

Middle and the boy waiting out a rain storm by his locker during open house on Friday.

I couldn’t believe how happy they were to see their friends and go back to school.

Makes me happy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Middle giving me a pedicure by the pool . A beautiful day with lots of sun…

The boy’s first golf practice. He had a good time and did well.

His thumbs not so much, he walked away with two huge blisters.

Didn’t stop him from going again two days later.

So proud.

Little One on her sister’s laptop.

Concentrating so hard.

She amazes me by how much she already knows.

Homemade chicken soup for my poor hubby who was laid up on the couch most of the week.

He”s doing much better…

Sisters getting along and hanging out with Joey watching over them.

He’s my neighbor’s dog and such a sweetheart.

The girls love him.

Now it’s your turn. Hope you all had a wonderful week. Can’t see your pics!!!

It’s late and I’m tired. Little One came in three times during last night which is unusual for her. I sure felt it today and I’m ready to hit the sheets.

But not before I share my Instagram shots from the past week!!!

Here they are:

From top clockwise:

1) Evening sky after one of our daily thunderstorms as seen on our walk. Never get tired of it.

2) Kids being silly for photoadayaugust on Instagram.

3) Middle with her brothers aviators looking cool.

4) Finn our attack kitty trying to get me.

5) We had a visitor in our pool one morning this week. It was a harmless Southern Ringneck snake (yes, I researched it right away) and hubby saved it from a drowning death and put it out back. I still haven’t been back in the pool… because of the thunderstorms, not the snake!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

6) Gracie our Yorkie making herself comfortable on Little One’s new beanbag chair.

7) I made chocolate chip cookies at 9 pm last night because my boy had a chocolate graving… and maybe I did too.

8) Little One enjoying her new bean bag chair.

9) Little One at dinner tonight enjoying daddy’s dinner more than her own. That’s a pork shank… or as we would call it in Germany, Schweinehaxe… Every once in a while it’s nice to go to a restaurant and eat German food and not cook it at home.

10) My girls looking pretty on the way to dinner.

11) All three of my offspring on our evening walk with the pooches. It doesn’t happen too often so I had to take a picture to commemorate the occasion.

Picture Perfect Sundays #16

August 12, 2012

I’m back to my scheduled weekly Sunday post.

Last week, as some of you may have noticed but were kind enough not to mention I did not post my regular Picture Perfect Sundays.

I was too busy soaking in some girl time with my mom and my girls and enjoying the beautiful beaches of South West Florida.

I love the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a lot calmer than the Atlantic… easier to just float about and relax in the soft waves.

I love to share photos and I love Instagram. I was one happy little blogger when Instagram became available on Android devices. I jumped, no leaped, on that particular social media bandwagon and have developed a new love affair/addiction with it. Because of this love affair I have decided to start my very own Sunday link up called… Picture Perfect Sundays!!!

I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!

I made up a collage of my fave Instagram moments of the last two weeks:

1. I found Kelle’s blog Enjoying the small Things  a few weeks ago. When I was done reading Nella’s birth story and had dried my last tear. I clicked on the link and ordered her book. As soon as it arrived I started reading and couldn’t put it down. It’s just amazing and wonderful and so full of love! If you haven’t heard of Kelle or her book, I urge you to check both out. It’ll change you… as it changed me.

2. This is the content of the package I received from the super sweet and lovely Beth Ann of It’s Just Life. She saw the picture I posted after I spilled my treasured loose leaf rooibus tea and the sweet soul that she is, put together a package of tea goodness from China. Can you believe it? I love my bloggy friends!!! Please, go say Hello to her and check out her comments for a cause. You won’t regret it.

3. The boy and Little One all smiles after a visit to the dentist. No cavities. ๐Ÿ™‚

4. Middle with her “baby” our Yorkie Gracie after one of her bath’s.

5. Beautiful white ducks that live in the fountain in front of my mom’s store at the Miromar Outlets in Ft. Myers, Florida. Great mall.

6. A hair bow… made out of Middle’s hair!

7. Beach babes… ready to hit the sand.

8. Beach babes… pooped out and sleepy.

9. Matchy girls waiting for Nicolette and her daughter Miss M..

10. Love that I got to meet a blog friend in real life and hit it off with her. This was our second time meeting and we will see each other again in September at CFL Blog Con. So excited.

11. Our girls having a blast at Playtown Cafe.

12. My boy practicing opening the lock on his locker. He’s in Middle School… (wipes a tear)

13. My three lovelies, posing for me without any arguing or making faces. Just smiles and happy kids.

14. It may have had to do with this… a trip to Guitar Center. Here’s the hubby trying out a new base. He didn’t get it and instead a new electric guitar graces our wall. He did trade two of his old ones in.

15. My girls rocking the drums. They always make a beeline for the drum section.

16. Here they are again… in the middle of the guitar section. It’s daddy’s toy store but they love it too!!!

And those are some of my fave memories from the past two weeks.

I hope you will link up some of yours and check out my bloggy friends.

If you feel like sharing, please do! I’d appreciate you helping me spread the word.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!!

Instagram Sundays #9 – Father's Day Edition

June 16, 2012

I love to share photos and I love Instagram. I was one happy little blogger when Instagram became available on Android devices. I jumped, no leaped, on that particular social media bandwagon and have developed a new love affair/addiction with it. Because of this love affair I have decided to start my very own Sunday link up aptly called… Instagram Sundays!!!

I look forward to seeing your Instagrams on the big screen!!!

In honor of Father’s Day, I decided to make a collage of some of the Instagrams I have of the hubby instead of my usual weekly Instagrams. So, without further ado, here he is the father of my children.

They adore their daddy and I couldn’t wish for a better father for them.

Happy Father’s Day, honey. We love you!!!

“What Is A Dad?

A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.ย

A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.ย

A dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail…”

Happy Father’s Day to all the daddies out there… including my own dad and father-in-law.
Hope you all have a wonderful day whatever you are doing. ๐Ÿ™‚
